CaptureLab 360 Privacy Policy

Summary

CaptureLab 360 by ConvertLab360 is a local-first screenshot, OCR and screen-recording tool. Screenshot capture, annotation, redaction, OCR and export do not require an account.

Core promise: CaptureLab 360 never uploads content automatically. Only an edited screenshot for which you explicitly press Share link leaves your device. Content is not sold, used for advertising or used to train machine-learning models.

Data processing

Screenshots, annotations, clipboard content, recognized OCR text, microphone audio, tab audio and video recordings are processed on your device.

Newly captured screenshots are kept in memory, copied to the system clipboard and released after the neighboring editor reads them. CaptureLab 360 does not automatically create files in Downloads; a file is created only when you press Download. Images you import into the OCR tool use a temporary local IndexedDB record that is automatically pruned after 24 hours or when the local retention limit is reached.

Text OCR runs the bundled English, Ukrainian and Russian models inside the extension. Ukrainian and Russian modes also load the English model for product names and technical terms. Images and recognized text stay on the device; no OCR request is sent to ConvertLab360 or any third party. Clipboard images are read only from an explicit paste action; the extension does not request background clipboard access.

When you select Chat conversation on a supported web messenger, CaptureLab 360 locates the visible message pane, scrolls it locally, captures messages the web client has already loaded and restores your reading position. It does not use messenger APIs, request account tokens, enumerate contacts or retrieve hidden history. The optional Blur names and avatars control is best effort; review the result before sharing.

The Mac companion's Long conversation screenshot captures a messenger window you select with ScreenCaptureKit and uses macOS Accessibility only to focus that window and send bounded scroll events. It does not read the window's text tree. Captured pixels, window titles and bundle IDs stay on the Mac.

After a tab recording, the extension keeps the local file path, size and save time in Chrome session storage to show Open recording and Show in Finder. This reference disappears when Chrome exits and is never sent to ConvertLab360.

Local preferences such as OCR language, image format and microphone state are stored in Chrome extension storage and are not synchronized to ConvertLab360 servers.

After you press Share link and confirm the first upload, the edited PNG, JPEG or WebP is sent to go.convertlab360.com. The service stores the image, a random unlisted URL, a sanitized filename, file type, size, dimensions, expiry time, view count, plan and a random installation ID. Audio, video, OCR text and transcripts cannot be uploaded through Share.

Share links are bearer links: anyone with the URL can view the image until it expires or you delete it. Free provides 100 MB / 50 active images with seven-day expiry; Pro provides 5 GB / 5,000 active images with retention up to one year. Expired images are deleted by scheduled cleanup, and you can delete active links in the extension settings.

Audio extraction and transcription (Mac companion)

The Audio tab opens the companion's local transcription studio. You explicitly choose an audio or video file or start a microphone-only recording, and you choose where M4A files are saved. The bundled Whisper model processes audio on the Mac; recordings, transcripts and terminology rules are never sent to a server. Completed transcripts are stored in an encrypted local library. Speaker identification, cloud transcription and generative summaries are not implemented. An optional notes draft only regroups existing transcript sentences on-device.

Browser permissions

activeTab and scripting: capture the tab you choose, show region selection, scroll a page or supported chat for a full-length capture.
webNavigation: locate the iframe you choose for Embedded window capture. Frame URLs are compared locally and are not stored or sent.
clipboardWrite: copy a capture or recognized text to the clipboard after your action. clipboardRead is not requested.
downloads: save exports you explicitly request.
storage: keep local preferences, temporary OCR records and the session-only reference to the last recording.
offscreen: compose screenshot tiles and keep a recording you started running after the popup closes.
tabCapture: record the tab you select, only after you press record.
nativeMessaging: talk to the optional CaptureLab 360 Mac companion for recording, audio and transcription. It is not used for screenshots, editing or OCR.
https://go.convertlab360.com/*: register a random sharing installation, read quota and upload, list or delete screenshots after explicit sharing actions.
Optional http://*/* and https://*/*: never granted at install. Chrome asks for one specific origin only when you capture an embedded window from a different site.

Network communication

The extension does not use analytics, advertising SDKs, remote executable code or remote OCR. It contacts go.convertlab360.com only for a sharing action you start or for optional Pro activation. These services see the connecting IP address; it is used transiently in hashed form for rate limiting and abuse prevention and is not stored with your content. Apart from sharing, Pro activation and optional sync-folder copies, the Mac companion communicates only through local operating-system and loopback interfaces.

Optional Pro license

Free features need no account or license server. When you activate or restore Pro, CaptureLab 360 sends the license key you entered and a random installation identifier (plus, from the Mac companion, the platform and app version) to license.convertlab360.com or go.convertlab360.com. The identifier is not derived from hardware serials, advertising identifiers, media or browsing history. Screenshots, audio and transcripts are never sent with a license request.

License keys and refresh secrets are stored on the server only as keyed hashes, together with subscription state, billing-provider identifiers, app version and activation times needed to enforce the plan and seat limit. Payments are processed by Creem, the merchant of record; card data is never handled by the extension, the Mac companion or our servers. Ending a subscription never deletes or locks files you already created.

Optional Google Drive folder copies

Off by default. If you choose a Google Drive for desktop folder and confirm automatic copies in the Mac settings, finalized recordings are copied there; the original is kept. Google Drive for desktop may then upload the copy to your Google account. CaptureLab 360 does not receive Google credentials or use the Drive API.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

CaptureLab 360's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data obtained through Chrome APIs is used only to provide the user-facing capture, OCR, recording, sharing and export functions described in this policy. It is not transferred for advertising, personalized advertising, creditworthiness or lending, and is not sold to data brokers.

User control and retention

Closing the editor releases its in-memory screenshot. Remove preferences and temporary OCR records by uninstalling the extension or clearing its data in Chrome. Delete downloaded files with your file manager. Delete shared images in the extension settings; otherwise they expire automatically. Privacy and deletion requests can be sent to hello@convertlab360.com; billing, tax and dispute records may be retained where required by law.

A cookie banner appears on your first visit with equally weighted Reject all and Accept all choices. You can change your choice any time through Cookie Settings in the site footer.
The Meta Pixel and Microsoft Clarity used elsewhere on the site are blocked on CaptureLab 360 pages, so no advertising pixels, remarketing tags or session-replay tools run here. Basic request logs may be processed by the hosting and security provider for delivery and abuse prevention.

Website visitor data is covered by the separate ConvertLab360 website privacy policy and cookie policy. The CaptureLab 360 extension itself sends no analytics.
